Musings & Half Eaten Muffins

Bruce Allan Bressack

I thought so, but on second thought, by Bruce Bressack

When I was young, I thought the world was simple and uncomplicated,
but on second thought…

The world is a nuanced place,
with shadows of answers,
lurking in corners,
just a hair’s breadth away.

When I was young, I thought creativity was my savior,
but on second thought…

The muse when bored,
grows restless when ignored.
When closeted instruments,
no longer shine,
the muse boards the train,
for one last time,
shouting God’s biggest dare,
“thou shalt create art from thin air.”

When I was young, I thought time was endless,
but on second thought…

time is a sculptor,
chiseling away pieces,
smoothing out the creases,
shaping our perspective,
one endless blessing at a time.

But, on second thought…
